Details of Recurring Dances in the Kitsap Area

- 1st Fridays, Latin Night, Bainbridge Island

When: 7:30 – 9:30 PM

Versatile DJ mix Salsa, Rumba, Cha Cha, Bachata, Merengue & Tango! Welcome to bring favorite tunes. Mini lessons and assisted dance practice but mostly dancing! Please bring munchies and drinks to share. 21 and over. Non-marking shoes. Register in advance. Pay $10 at the door.

- (Some Fridays) nighttime ballroom dancing at the Elks 7:30 PM

Come twirl on the great dance floor at the Elks Club in Bremerton. Entry is for Elks members and their guests (there are usually USA Dance members who are also Elks members with whom you can go). There is a $5 cover charge. Bar food is available. These are the Friday nights in July when dances will be hosted:

14 July "Casanova"

Note: Champion dancers Todd and Suzie Marsden will give a demonstration during the 14 July dance. There was a full house and standing room only when they last performed at Elks Bremerton in 2010.

21 July "Michael and Leslie"

28 July "Black Velvet Duo"

- (Some Saturdays) afternoon ballroom dance workshops with Jan Madison (RSVP to or 360-633-7662) at the Elks Club. Partners are not required. You do not have to be a member of the Elks Club to attend these workshops as you will sign is as a guest of Jan Madison. Come early and enjoy a burger for lunch.

July 15, 2-4 PM. "He can't lead; she can't follow."

July 22, 2-4 PM. "Night Club Two-Step."

- 2nd Saturdays Dance at Island Center Hall on Bainbridge Island

The July 8 event will be a Sock Hop & Ice Cream Social! Versatile DJ mix Swing, Oldies and Goldies! Dress for the 50's era if you like! Twist contest. Prizes for best costumes! Bring your favorite ice cream and/or toppings to share!

The 2nd Saturday dance hosts monthly live music and DJ events. Non-alcohol, non-smoking. Singles and couples. Adults and teens. Non-marking shoes with clean soles kind to wood floor. Bring munchies and non-alcohol beverages to share.

Doors open 7:00 pm. Pay $10 at the door for entry.

Workshop mixer at 7:15 – 8:00 PM; workshop included with entry fee.

- 3rd Saturdays, USA Dance, Bremerton

Masonic Lodge, 858 5th Street

This well-attended and fun dance features the popular DJ Terry West who spins a mix of tunes that allow all types of dancing: East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Foxtrot, Rumba, Waltz, Cha Cha, Country Two Step, Samba, and others. Nice casual is the dress and the cost is only $12 for nonmembers and $8 for members of USA Dance. Couples and singles are welcome, and the USA Dancers strive to ensure that singles have partners to dance with. A lesson occurs at X PM and then the dance starts at Y PM.

At the USA Dance you will also find information on USA Dances throughout the area (Kitsap, Olympia, Tacoma)

USA Dance Kitsap hosts ballroom dance lessons on Monday nights through most of the year, but not in July and August.

- Every Wednesday at McClouds Bar and Grill, 2901 Perry Ave, East Bremerton

West Coast Swing Lessons by Soleman and Angie.

Learn the moves, learn style, have fun, and bring your cell-phone camera to videotape your lesson at the end of the lesson. Singles and couples are welcome at these very popular lessons, plus you have the opportunity to practice your WCS with fellow dancers before, between, and after the lessons. Bar food and drink is available. Once you're on Angie's email list, you'll know about WCS events in Seattle, Olympia, Tacoma, Vancouver (WA and BC), and other places.

7 PM: basic lesson

7:45 PM: intermediated or advanced lesson

cost: $7 for one lesson or $12 for both.

- Thursday afternoons dance lesson (11:30) followed by a Tea Dance (12:30 – 3:30 PM)

One-hour lesson with Jan Madison, followed by the Tea Dance.

July 13, 20, and 27 at 11:30 AM: "Beginning Hustle" lessons. Tea Dance from 12:30 – 3:30 PM for a $5 cover. Partners are not required. You do not have to be a member of the Elks Club to attend these lessons and classes as you will sign is as a guest of Jan Madison. Lunch is available.
